-Food-Cupcakes-Kale-Krispies-

My newest obsession is the Food Network. I really like to watch all the different competitions that they air. Paula Deen is spectacular, Bobby Flay is fantastic, Giada is so beautiful I can't get over it, Guy's hair is terrible but I'd love to cook with him someday, I could really learn a few things. Today we happened to watch Cupcake Wars which is always exciting. I actually think that if I went to pastry school or something like that I could compete in one of those competitions. But alas, I have not. So I am left to dream about it. Well it sounded like a fun idea until we saw what they had to use to create new cupcakes, seaweed and sea salt...what the? Now, I don't get why these shows make you use ingredients that you wouldn't normally use in things, because the thought of it makes me gag. It actually reminds me of the first time I tried wasabi, I thought it was guacamole....need I say more? Anyways, I guess it really brings out the culinary creativity or whatever to use odd ingredients like that.
I think another reason I love the Food Network is because it's actually a clean channel. I don't feel like anything is inappropriate or crude. I can watch it and feel comfortable knowing it's good and most likely I'm gonna learn something. Like the recipe I learned to make grilled cheese sandwiches with bacon and kale. I love kale. It's my friend. I also love spinach. I love spinach salads. I love spinach in smoothies. I love it cause it's almost tasteless, it's not fowl, it's pleasant.
You know what else I've been into lately? Gourmet rice krispie treats. I have been having the best time thinking of new ways to make such an easy and yummy treat, taste even better. Randy is always such a great critic, and he always gives me good reviews. My brother Dig is also a fantastic critic, he's never given me a bad review. It makes me feel good.
So anyways, it's been a real lazy Sunday, we've spent our day after church brushing up on our culinary skills.....actually that's just me;) Randy is really good at letting me watch what I want. As long as I watch Wyatt Earp with him, which I love, so everybody wins. And now we are watching the Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers. I just love that trilogy, it's for sure on my Top 20 list of favorite movies. Man it's getting cold outside, my arms are cold from all the typing, so I'm gonna log off. It's been surreal, but nice. (A quote from one of my other favorite movies, any guesses?)

  2. You could totally be on one of those Food Network shows. Your culinary skills (especially in the dessert category) are outstanding. I hope to see you as one of the contestants on The Next Food Network Star soon!
